✨In a remote Kashmiri village, Karun—a reserved security guard—forms a forbidden bond with Faheem, a college student torn between tradition and desire. Through stolen glances and secret visits, their connection blossoms against the backdrop of faith, family, and a society in conflict. Tender yet dangerous, their love dares to rise above the narratives of hate.
🎥Filmed on the beautiful border of India and Pakistan, We Are Faheem & Karun is directed & produced by Onir and is the first Kashmiri-language LGBTQI+ film, inspired by the true story of a gay army major.
🎬About the Director: Onir
Onir is an acclaimed Indian filmmaker, producer, and writer known for bold, groundbreaking storytelling. His debut feature My Brother… Nikhil (2005) was one of the first mainstream Hindi films to address AIDS and same-sex relationships. He went on to win the Indian National Film Award for I AM (2011), a pioneering crowd-funded anthology exploring themes of identity, abuse, and LGBTQI+ rights.
Recent works include Pine Cone (2024), a queer love story inspired by his memoir I Am Onir and I Am Gay, and My Melbourne, an anthology highlighting diversity and inclusion. His latest film, We Are Faheem & Karun, premiered internationally at BFI Flare 2025.
